Located on the largest stretch of pristine powder white sand beach, this newly renovated oceanfront All Inclusive resort offers an excellent value for an impressive array of amenities. Daily activities, live entertainment and attentive service makes this resort an unforgettable island escape.
The soft opening of Antigua's newest all-suite resort was held in December, 2005. With all the bells and whistles now in place, guests are welcomed with the Caribbean warmth and hospitality they will come to relish, as can only be experienced at an all-suite resort.
“Lovely holiday couldn't have stayed at a more adequate hotel”
My party returned from 10 nights at the Jolly Beach resort on Sunday 31st August, we were a group of 11 ranging from the ages of 11 to 76 years of age.
I have been to St. Lucia, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Barbados twice and the once to Antigua. I would not hesitate in coming back to the island. My daughter loved the jolly Beach and my mum became a legend at 76 as she was one of the few people who actually made the effort to dance on the floor each evening and she wasn't drunk either. I disagree with the comments made by the previous review, we always found the staff to be most curtious and very friendly, if people take the time to have a conversation with the staff they always responded and seemed quite pleased that we should want to chat to them.
The only fault that we had was the larger pool, we preferred to sit around the quiet pool as this was not as busy and was in fact cleaner, and the elderly people we were with could have their granny-naps in the afternnon, I think the problem with the fantasy pool is that the food grill is located too near this and any food which children may have dropped was quickly picked up by passing seagulls and dropped into the pool, the other problem was hotel guests as on the odd occasion I ventured into the fantasy pool I picked up a few cups which had been just thrown into the pool by lazy people who could'nt be bothered to return them to the bar area, I know people are on holiday but I'm sure people wouldn't treat their homes this way. There was visible security at all times walking along the beach which does make you feel more secure in the resort, the only exceptions are the un-licenced vendors who can be a little intimidating, The licenced ones were lovely, I think they loved my mother because she can never walk past any shop or stall without buying something. We felt the food was very good, the lobster which you have to pay $25 for in Lydias is gorgeous and is deffinately a must. The other restaurants were good also, no worries there.
We booked a Standard room, this was more than adequate for the three of us, It comprised of a king size bed and single, the room was basic but clean towels every day and clean sheets most days also, who lives in a room on holiday anyway.
The trips I would recommend is the Eco Island Safari, this was an excellent day out for families, especially if your children age range is 8 plus, I was very apprehensive about getting onto a kayak but a tour guide allowed me to travel with him and I was glad I did rather than sitting by myself. The day starts when you are picked up by jeep then taken to Nelsons Dockyard, then driven to the North of the island and you then go on speed-boats to the mangroves for kayaking then taken to a secluded beach for a bbq and the chance to snorkel and swim. The circumnavigation is good aswell. Shirley Heights was a good evening aswell, when we first arrived we didn't know what to expect as there isn't really much there, but as soon as youv've had some rum punches and the steel band finishes playing they have the best reggie band in Antigua playing.
