“Wonderful vacation at the Rtiz!” Our family recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton STT. We had a wonderful time. Our room was close to the lobby and pool which made walking for my mother-in-law easier. You may want to keep that in mind if walking is a problem. I felt the entire staff was wonderful. From check in to check out we were greeted with smiles. Service was great, food was good! Staff was attentive to our needs.
Food:
We dined on and off property. As expected, the prices were higher at the Ritz. Sails was very convenient during the day! Some portions were large enough to share. We really enjoyed Roberts, which is right next door at the Elysian. Great food & drinks. Kevin is the owner of Roberts. He came out to see if we were enjoying our dinning experience. The she-crab soup is a most! As is the eclair! Page made sure our drinks were filled for happy hour. They also have a pizza/sandwich type place on the beach called Ainsley's. We also enjoyed dining at East End Cafe. My husband had a HUGE veal porterhouse that was delicious. Service and food was great, also a bit pricey. I have been to STT several times and still get that "sticker shock"...LOL! I've just excepted that it costs more but still my favorite island!
Beach-Pool:
My two daughters, age 10 & 12 really enjoy the infinity pool at the Ritz. I like the fact that they now offer to spray you with sunscreen, at the station, by the towel attendant. This was so convenient! Even the girls didn't mind getting sunscreen put on! That meant a hassle free vacation for me. I would like to see this at all the resorts, so you don't have to pack it anymore.
Things to do:
At the Ritz, My daughters also liked making sand art called Plastermania! Now there is a souvenior worth keeping. It occupied some time and the pieces turned out beautifully. I enjoyed watching them do it as well. They hung each of their sand art in their bedrooms! Beach is OK. I liked the loungers with optional roll-over tops for shade. My favorite beaches are in St. John's & Turks & Caicos. We did use a paddle boat and got to see some sea life. I would take a day to get the ferry to St. John's and go to one of the many beaches there....beautiful! We also went to Coral World and Cokie Beach for the day. Very nice beach but more crowded. The girls enjoyed Coral World and getting dog bones to feed the fish at Cokie. You don't even have to snorkel to see the fish, they come right up to you standing there in the water! We also like to hear Andrew play the steel drums! You can catch him at Blue Moon on Fridays and get a bite to eat. He plays other places but I don't remember the names of the restaurants.
Spa:
Spa was very nice. Everyone greeted you with a smile. Girls had a pedicure this time. I love the lotion you can purchase at the Spa, it smells so good. Prices are comparable to the Hershey Spa.
Transportation:
Taxis cost per person. If you feel OK driving on the other side of a bumpy small road and plan to be there for more than a few days, you may want to rent a car. Red Hook is not far away and there are places to eat, catch the ferry or pick up some groceries.
Weather was great for us. Seemed just like it was in December there. I thought it would be really really hot but I didn't mind it at all.
Another wonderful set of memories for us at St. Thomas. Thank you Ritz Carlton. We had a great vacation! We will return! |
